Today my thoughts and prayers are with a 17 year old girl who will be losing her mother in the next few hours or days. I don't know what it's like to go thru your young adult life without a mother, but I know there is going to be so many times she is going to miss her mother at important milestones in her life. I hope the faith and love her mother had will help her during those times.
Her mother has been battling cancer for years. She has been a couragous example of a Christian in times of pain and suffering. Up until she went into hospice care she rarely missed worship. What an example to those who miss for a headache or ballgame or because they just didn't think they had to go on Sunday night or Wednesday.
Her example is something her daughter can be proud of and look to in times of trials.
This has really bothered me and I guess the main reason is because we have girls the same age and just the thought of leaving my daughter at such a young age is something I would have a very hard time dealing with.
But even in this I see God's hand at work. Her daughter was double promoted when she was in grade school. Had this not have happened she would not have seen her daughter graduate and know that she is going on to a Christian college and pursuing a good career. Her husband is not a member of the church, but have been told that lately he is thinking about his life and where he wants to spend eternity. Maybe this will be the push he needs to become a Christian and have the goal of Heaven to be with his wife.
God does all things for a reason, it's just hard sometimes when you are hurting to see it.
Her pain will be gone soon but the hurting for everyone else will begin. But for Deidre I feel she can say as the apostle Paul said
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
